Peter B Forster

Drummer, novelist, psychologist, and tireless noticer of things. A life spent in listening rooms, clinical and musical both.

The Listening Years

Peter trained and worked as a counselling psychologist. His working life was spent attending to the unsaid, the half-formed, the thing a person couldn't quite reach. That practice, a patient and unhurried listening, never left him when he turned to the page. It is why his missives read less like diary entries and more like transcripts of a particular quality of attention.

The Drummer

He has played the drums for the better part of his life, drawn always to the players who left space in the sound. These days the kit shares the room with a pair of headphones: he listens widely and curates playlists for family and friends with the same care a pharmacist gives to dosage. The music never stopped. It only changed form.

The Written Word

Peter is the author of five books. More Than Love, A Husband's Tale grew from a journal he kept after his wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and carries the blend of unvarnished honesty and emotional precision that runs through everything he writes. The First Wave gathers his daily missives just as they came, while the three volumes of The One Soul turn to fantasy, a story of love and memory woven across time. The missives continue here, day by day: a commitment to setting life down as it happens, without unnecessary polish, without looking away.
