A billion lost suns
lossnaturepoliticsmortality
A billion lost suns
Countless broken planets
Hopelessly endangered species
Groping this way and that
Searching
For answers to questions
Best left unanswered.
Faithless flesh
Hoping to be redeemed
When nothing happens
To bedhoppers
Bellicose behemoths
And sociopaths eating away
At every good intention.
Bug-eyed greenhorns
Practice absolution
As a reprieve from certainty
Too many pray for second chances
When there are none.
Whatever the apologists
Demand
To maintain their grip on power
There is only one life.
Perhaps it is better
To spend it out of the gutter
Whilst there is a choice
Some people don’t have.
