A Groundhog kind of day.
A Groundhog kind of day.
It is a day for walking
A little overcast
A light breeze
Not too humid
The air feels good
On the skin
Every gust of wind
Carries the promise
Of another one
Waiting just around the corner
A smell of coffee
Always seems to linger
Beneath the Plane tree
Opposite the cafe
Where people bring a takeaway
To sup in the shade
Out of the sun on a hot day
I keep walking
Hoping for a better idea
To maintain my interest
Enough to keep breathing evenly
Nobody expects surprises
The unexpected happens
Wearing a disguise
Unhealthy lifestyles
Are a design flaw
People grow to accept
When did it become a thing
To drink almond milk
The early morning swimming crowd
Inadvertently smell of chlorine
It is cheaper than Chanel
But not quite as much fun
In a clinch
It is so easy to trip over
A dog lead
When hitting your stride
Why do perfectly good dogs
Put up with owners
Who witter on about
Trivialities all the time
House prices
Who needs them?
Ignoring the impact of
Sensory deprivation
On a sensitive canine
When they are denied
The right to sniff
Out the competition
For as long as it takes
To overload their senses
Some people hoover
With a pooper scooper
Others wait to catch it
On the way down to earth
How is that fun
If I keep walking it will soon
Be after noon
And I can think about a drink
Exercise is all about
Alcohol offset
Healthy options are
Bourbon light
Shiraz neutral
Renewable energy is in short supply
Without an incentive
To refuel with a modicum
Of sustainable responsibility.
