A shaft of sunlight

griefnaturememorytimemortality

A shaft of sunlight

Proudly gleaming

Through a crack in the ceiling

Of a dungeon

Deeply hewn

From a figment

Of old sorrow

A breath of fresh

Spring air

Carried in the draught

From a window

Overlooking a dark place

Where the only sound is

Respiration

Deeply breathed

The scent of wildflowers

Rampant

Billowing in a strong wind

Undulating like waves

On a restless ocean

Reconstructing wonders

No longer seen

Though well remembered

Carry my body

With you

Cradle me

I am salvaged

By small miracles

Drifting through

Dark canyons

Sailing the wind

Soaring as an eagle

In flight

More than this

Would break me

Sever the flow

Cleave my reverie

Dimmed in evanescence

Separate my essence

From reality

Whatever that may

Represent

In its hollow replication

Of a charmless life

Hiding

In the shadow

Of a vacant thought.
