Are we alone

naturepoliticsmemoryloveidentitymortality

Are we alone

Stuck in the middle

Of an argument between

One existential moment

And the next

Considering truths

With the ground shifting

Even as we speak

What do we seek

When the sky is run

Clear through

With blue

Only yesterday

It was grey

What can we say

About the difference

In behaviour

Of the climate

Is it critical we understand

The spirit

Of this adventure

Driving a dagger into the heart

Of a problem

The crux of which escapes

Close scrutiny

By virtue of its changeability

Nothing is certain

Even a curtain drawn

Over proceedings

Will not halt the rot

Like as not

There is a human sized hole

In the firmament

Waiting to be filled

With the bones

Of an idea

Play it forward

Even laggards

Have a chance to respond

To the ripples on a pond

As they expand

Eventually

They will carry all before them.
