Are you out there?

lossnaturememorytimeidentitymortality

Are you out there?

Can it be so

When for so long I have felt alone.

Even when the world

Is filled with noise and spectacle,

The space where you said

You would be

Stands empty.

Where are you now?

I am in silence

With nothing but a whisper

In the hollow of the sound

I used to hear.

Nothing is real

Even the truth is coloured black.

Whitewash covers

All that life used to be

When the promise was made,

Leaving it blank,

An empty page,

An unwritten book.

Even with words

There would be nothing to see

Without you.

None of my dreams make sense,

Dog-eared and bitten right down

To the bone.

I wish time would stop running in parallel,

When it converges,

Paths will cross,

And ours could choose to run together.

This is all too surreal,

I can feel you at my shoulder

But until you are here

The sun,

Although it shows,

Continues to grow colder,

The young just get older

And where once

I thought to be found,

I am all but lost,

Hidden from view,

By a host of truths,

That lie between

The world of words,

And the reading of their meaning.
