Birds fly.
Birds fly.
How does that feel
Do they wonder
As the mood takes them,
Feathering wings,
Gliding
with relative ease,
Rising on thermals,
Lifting and falling
Spiralling together.
Squadrons in close order,
Murmuring
Amongst themselves,
Flying in harmony.
What do they see
When they look at me.
Do they wonder
How I might feel
Standing on my
Earth bound perch,
Enjoying their freedom
And knowing
My feet will
Always stay grounded.
Does it matter,
When in my heart
I fly with them.
Together we
Embrace the power
Of the wind,
Catch a glimpse
Of heaven,
Journey to the horizon
And beyond.
Do they see me
As I swoop among the stars,
Dusting the sky,
Touching
The roof
Of the world,
Reaching for more,
And finding a rainbow.
Are we so different
When in our time
We all find
A way to swoop
And soar
Together.
