Blue singer.

Blue singer.

You were strong

To take the pain of living

Surviving hateful things

Sweat stained beds

Broken trust paternal rust

Eating through the guilding

Of golden slumber

Revealing the downside

Before you could clamber

Higher up the ladder

From the gutter

Where lost souls clutter

The ground with sorrow

And sob stories were shared

For the cost of a needle

You were strong

To survive on your own

Before the beasts burned

The world

The fire in your soul

Doused by wave after wave

Of indifference

Nobody listens

To the bloodied masses

Abuse is entertainment

In mainstream

Tears are shed for a depiction

When awards are given

For realism

On the screen

Nobody heard you scream

But Wilbert Rich

Jimmy Monroe was a habit

Too hard to break for too long

In reality

Life was unsweetened

Strange fruit

You were strong

More than a sad song

And more than a lady

Who sang the blues
