Bravely we step

griefnaturetimeidentitymortality

Bravely we step

In purblind haste

For it is we

Survivors of the fall

Who walk in shadow

Bold as children

Whistling in the dark

Searching for a way

To slip back home.

Look through windows

Tightly closed

Though they may be

It is we who see

Even as we weep

Sleep pretty ones

Safely breathes the night

The strength to fight

Is something

Keenly felt

You may not know it

Lies within

Until a day dawns

In need of more

Than expectation

Deeper than the skin

Less than merely

Shallow

Much greater than

The sum

Of what we are,

Higher than

The furthest

Ever reached

It is a mountain

Never climbed

Until we try

It is the miracle

We thought to hide

Buried beneath the

Wreckage

Of a life

Bluff and bluster

Truth begets lies

We are stronger

Than our weakness

As it is in the

Not knowing

What it might mean

To do more than

Just pass muster

Wherein lies the true beginning

Of our strength

Deeply delved

In nature

The wisdom of

A well found soul

Is never ending
