An etched pen-and-ink illustration with a purple accent, evoking "Can you see the demon,".
November 6, 2025Poem

Can you see the demon,

naturepoliticsdrumming

Can you see the demon,

Knocking at your door.

Looking through the window,

Crawling on the floor.

Sitting at the table,

Spitting in your face.

Wanting to take over,

Even steal your place.

What about the demon,

Sleeping there with you,

Waiting to be woken,

Whatever will you do?

Listen to the demon,

Breaking down the walls,

Climbing in the kitchen,

When a curtain falls.

Nothing can escape him,

Wherever you may roam,

He is there beside you,

Now you are his home.

The night is full of demons,

Wanting to be free,

Walking in the shadows,

Hiding in the trees.

Demons are not heroes,

Feeding on the hate,

Doing what they want to,

And saying it is fate.

Blaming you for trying,

Cutting you in two,

When all you want is freedom,

From the demon,

Inside you.
