Caught in the rain

naturepoliticslove

Caught in the rain

Not hung out

Or up

To dry

But soaked right through.

The shiver of it

Brings nothing of pleasure

But a sadness

For spring

Desire and rebirth.

The smell of you

The warmth of summer

A slip of sweat

To tickle my neck

The knowledge

That you are there

A soft kiss

The intermingling

Of essence

Nestling together

Willowed in shade

Among the bluebells

Watching the river flow.

The splash of water

Beneath my feet

Is a wash of grey

The only sign of summer

A jubilee

Of Union Jacks

Fluttering

Between lamp posts

And an ice cream carton

Trampled into the sand

Waiting for high tide

To float boats

And clear the decks

Of flotsam

Keep breathing

There is always tomorrow
