Dance lightly

naturemusiclovemortalitysolitudedrumming

Dance lightly

Glide across the kitchen

One two three

Spin on the balls of your feet

The stone floor

Newly washed

A ballroom

The sheen of it catching

The light from

A solstice sun

Bleeding through

The half closed blind

Turn in a full circle

She is in silhouette

Edged with fire

A total eclipse

Lasting for

Just one heartbeat

Until she disappears

Curling into steam

From the coffee pot

Bubbling on the hob

A strange music

Sinatra for breakfast

Leftover

From the early hours

The whisky

No longer in the bottle

No Joe in the joint

To set ‘em up

Not quite hungover

But one more

Cup of coffee

Will kickstart

The morning

Before the music ends

And silence

Creeps out from the shadows

Behind the toaster

Not Excalibur

Just a butter knife.
