Dance with words

lossnaturecitymusicpoliticsmemory

Dance with words

Jumbled by the rhythm

Of night music

Barely heard above the fallout

From a nearby balcony

Where once a lover stood

Waiting for a call

To arms

Wars were never fought

For want of peace

They fill a void

That grows

Between misunderstanding

The truth of need

Is more than want

And the belief

A heart can bear

The pain of losing

Ownership of time.

We ought to know

There is more to love

Than its beginning

Bearing loss

Is more a proof of hope

Than finding any

Truths in darkness

A hole is still a space

To plant a seed

Natural progress

Is a priceless gift

Opportunity is more than

A doorway to redemption

And perception

As symptomatic

Of a growth toward

The safety

Of the familiar

As words of love

Are carried further

Than a sigh

On the restless breath

Of midnight
