Debbie Willis did but then again she is a delight.

I would tell you if I could,

Whisper in your ear

Have a conversation

To ease the silence

Unburden the sorrow.

In lights turned low

A nurse moves with practised

Efficiency,

Too many times

The same conclusion,

There is grace here.

In the stillness your chest moves

An illusion I know

Just as half-closed eyes

Seem to follow

Like the portrait of a lady

Hanging in a gallery

Where it would be enigmatic.

People do sleep here

Unwittingly engaged in restless slumber

Too entangled in the intensity

Of emotion

To rest easily,

Even as in this debility

There is a modicum

Of peace.

Loved ones are woken

Looks will be exchanged

Heavy with words, unsaid

Denial will beget anger

Many tears will be shed

Before acceptance

Nothing will be the same

But life will go on

I will wish that I could talk to you

Perhaps in my heart

I will hear an answer

For in that moment,

It will feel less broken.
