Differentiate
Differentiate
See what we are
It is providential
To ascribe a belief
In the constancy of change
Without ever caring
To look closely
At representation
When difference
Is more than a suggestion
To reform
How we see
The result of accumulated
Loss
Will inform
What we do with our souls
If they can be found
Buried beneath
The detritus of life
Cast off
Shed as snake skin
Outgrown
In a desire to move on
Without waiting
For wisdom to catch up
With a human growth spurt
If that is what you want to believe
Without daring to look
Too closely
At what is left behind
Differentiation
Will hinge
On good fortune
Change
Is blind to attribution
Without cause
It will develop
In its own way over time
For good or ill
Unless we take heed
Delve into the mire
And differentiate
Between
One course or another
We are nothing more
Than passengers
Heading pell mell
For the buffers
On a driverless train.
