Do I still meander
Do I still meander
Or is there enough to see
Without a mind to wander aimlessly
Missing as it goes
The presence of a stranger
Who may touch the heart
If only it would know
Enough to show me
As open to persuasion
There is a moment
When eyes meet
Before they drift away
When a smile would suffice
To break the ice
As everybody knows
Until they try
To meet another’s eye
There is always someone
On the edge of recognition
Unless the mind deceives us
In its endless search for meaning
Even in a world of interrelated actions
Not all of them coincide
In mutual coalescence
The collision of atoms
Is not always as explosive as is written
In textbooks
Pander to my disarray
Allow my gaze to drift
Into the middle distance
Never fear how glazed my eyes appear
There is a world of difference
Between a lack of empathy
And a multiplicity
Of permutations
Defying rational norms
In the constant search for reason, form
And resolution
