Do you remember
naturememorytimelovemortality
Do you remember
The first time
We walked hand in hand
Across a moonlit beach
At midnight
The texture of sand
Soft and wet
Potters clay
Squeezing up between our toes
The perfect footprints
So sharply defined
Disappearing into the distance
A revelatory experience
As we stand together
Each step we take
No matter how small
Reminds me of the first one
A never ending cycle
A lifetime lifeline
Every print in overlay
Of the one before
It seems too perfect
A fit
That night of magic
Of bathing and moonlight
Looking back
After all these years
No matter how many times
The scene is revisited
With its fear of discovery
The aroma of seaweed
On a saltspray breeze
The cacophony
Of Cicadas in fleabane trees
I do believe
It really was
More than love.
