Even as blood flows

naturemusicmemorytimelovedrumming

Even as blood flows

Freely in my veins

There is a lack of syncopation

No rhythmic pulse

Just a steady beat

No shuffle

Swing

Or easy sway

No nimble flutter

Like a butterfly

What a dance it was

Never less than a kiss away

From romance

A timeless flight

Of fantasy

With more than a share

Of unpredictability

I was the dust

On your wings

You were the summer

Of my years

The music has changed

The intention

Is the same

But the invention

Has disappeared

Play me

Let a love song float

On the updraft

If I can be haunted

By its melody

It will be something

To remember you by

Dance little butterfly

A regal suite

A timeless night

Under moonlight

A fine ballet

Until morning comes

And the magic disappears

In a welter

Of fairy dust

Can I

Can we...just…
