Even as tears

lossnaturecitymusicmemorytime

Even as tears

Fail to fall

They wait

Barely hidden

Teetering unbidden

On the brink

Of discovery

Always ready to announce themselves

Eager to claim

An audience

As their progress is traced

Fueling the gracelessness

Of aging

Deepening a groove

Sinking into worn skin

Barely dry from yesterday

The stain of mourning

So easily recognised

The ragged raging eased

In brief respite

There will be another storm

In the by and by

So many tears

Still to be shed

In the days to come

Missing you

Does not diminish

There is evolution

Not absolution

Time and distance

Bring no resolution

Tears in themselves

Are not enough

To stay the execution

Of the soul

As yet

There is no return

To the garden

No regret to sully the memory

Or stay the dis-ease of longing

Though every tear that falls

Brings me closer

To an answer

I do not weep to forget

But to remember

And so I cry

Until we meet again

In the by and by.
