Everything slips away

naturemusicpoliticsmemorymortality

Everything slips away

Unseen

Between glances

Trying to remain unblinking

For fear of missing

A goodbye

Even when there is none

Nobody knows

When a change occurs

Waiting for the kettle

After midnight

When the only sound

Is the wind breathing

Through fissures

In the pointing

Endless moments

Trying to remember

What it was like

To look forward

To a sunrise

When the only thing

You see on the other side

Of the bed is a pillow

A diffuser

On a bedside table

Humidifying lavender

Throughout the night

Realigning memories

Softening the air

Redefining shadows

On the ceiling

Watching as it peels away

Translucent rooftops

Skywatching

Through a haze

Of recognition

Liquid fingers

Transforming every touch

Into an agony

Of secretive survival
