Eyes tightly shut
Eyes tightly shut
Mouth closed
Ears protected from sound
Nothing intrudes
There is no right of reply
If you are senseless
Ambience is not
Even in the background
The milieu
An environment of
Cultural divorce
The brain cuts an isolated
Figure
On the slab
Too late to stimulate
Gray canals
When there is no real connection
Between us
Prick up your ears
Take off the blinkers
A head stuffed
So far up the pipe
Tunnel vision
Is too broad a term
The stars you see
Are twinkling on the inside
Play along
Exercise a little positive regard
For the mindful use
Of a healthy balance
The scales too easily
Tipped in favour
Of passivity
When all that ever matters
Is in the moment
The only plan
For any past future
Is to do nothing
Other than react
With dwindling returns
Until the only stimulation
You receive
Will be the sound
Of disconnection
Tinnitus
For the millenial
White noise might be
More or
Less spectacular
Than a flatline
On an oscillator
But the novelty
Will still wear off quicker
Than a heartbeat.
