Garrulous trees lean in
naturecity
Garrulous trees lean in
Blathering at the window
Leering leaves flounce
On the wind
Broadly speaking
Each wide leaf
Resembles a pterodactyl
So ancient are they,
Primordial.
Swamp-born creatures
Will outlast us all
As forbidding as the moon.
Ghostly dressed
A chalkstone beauty
Hung so low
As to brush the dust
From chimney pots.
Nothing is as close
To perfect
As the tickle of a moonbean
The prickle of a mood swing
As a fresh wind whispers dirty
Secrets
Into the hollow
Of a valley.
Tall trees shake
With unforced glee
Misread,
As a show of strength
When they just are,
And do not need
To flex their limbs
To show it.
