Grass is well suited
Grass is well suited
To hard times
It needs to be
It has a simplicity
In design that
Ensures its evolution
Into a seed crop
Though well trodden
Invariably squashed
As a necessity
Of freewheeling ambulation
It springs up
With renewed vigour
Reaching for the sun
A little water
To moisten its leaves
A minimal requirement
Of good husbandry
It would carpet the earth
Bring it life
Sustain a balance
Few humans will achieve
Theirs is a chaotic progress
Caring little for the background noise
Using the landscape
For colour
When tired of grey.
Expecting the world
To lie quietly dormant
Waiting to be of service
Servile in its
Acceptance of destruction
Bouncing back
With a spring in its step
Like a weeble
Higher functioning
Should come with a warning
Attached
‘Beware
Keep off the grass
Trespassers will be prosecuted.’
