He is drowning.

lossnaturetimeloveidentity

He is drowning.

Every breath chokes

The life out of him.

Walking in molasses,

Muscles scream

With indignation.

He is stretched

To breaking point,

Living beyond his means,

Fighting to stand still,

Slowly, falling back,

Into the deep.

A slough

That waits, to claim

Possession of his soul.

Now that everything

Else is gone,

Hope is all he has left.

Without it

He is lost,

And it gets harder

To hold on to

With every setback.

Failure he can cope with,

It is the vacuum

In his heart

That threatens

To destroy him,

Swallow him, whole.

Turn him inside out,

Split his atoms,

Scatter him,

To the winds,

Sweep his dust away.

Unless he finds

What he needs

To start his heart,

It will be so,

If not today,

Then tomorrow.
