How do people cope

naturemusictimelovedrumming

How do people cope

When the wild wind blows,

Sweeping all before it,

Scouring the earth,

Laying waste to man’s

Carefully crafted plans.

Dislodging

The oldest stones,

Uprooting

The tallest trees,

The youngest saplings,

Tearing lives apart.

How do hearts broken

Still beat?

Find new rhythms,

Until the extraordinary

Is normalised.

Tears,

Are the souvenirs

Of surprise

Mementoes of before

The fall

And they lie together

In deep salt lakes

Waiting to flow,

When the winds

Begin to blow

Again.
