How do we move forward

naturemusicpoliticstimemortalitysolitude

How do we move forward

When the wind

Is not prevailing

There is no moon

Blood or blue

To guide the way

The road overgrown

With tumbleweed connections

Tearing at ragged memories

Dragging at shirt tails

Hanging from pockets

Full to overflowing

With empty promises

Knotted handkerchiefs

Broken wishbones

The dust of golden slumbers

Trailing in the wake

Leaving a reminder

Of a place

We may have been

With no return

Even as we retrace

A familiar trail

It is soon overgrown

Over blown

A mischief wind

Follows in our footsteps

Erasing evidence

Of our passage

Leaving nothing but

The shadow of a touch

It may not be much

But how do we

Pass lazy days

Floating in the wonder

If there is no way

Of marking time

It makes no sense

To ponder

If the reason for the moment

Has no meaning

How do we move forward

When we may never know

What may be so

Oh no no no...
