Spirit of Life, Breaking My Heart
lossnaturemusicloveidentitymortality
How do you capture
An abstraction
Of varying intensity
An impression of density
Even as it over runs,
Defying gravity
Liquid mercury
Spirit of life
Hot as blood.
A salted brine
That tastes of the sea.
The blues become hues
I cannot comprehend
Disappearing into
My soul
A fall without end
A cataract of uncertain
Beginning
Breaking my heart
With a splash
Of finality
Spreading over
The landscape
Of a broad canvas
Bloodied in tentative
Attempts to compose
A version of myself
You might recognise
And I might like.
