How does it end

lossmusicmemorytimelovemortality

How does it end

What can be expected

When the time comes

A gradual acceptance

The will to revive

Declining

Every passing day

A sudden collapse

Of endeavour

As tired legs give way

When once they moved

With natural grace

A rhythmic chasse’

The gentle sway

Of a dancer

How will it be

To say ‘no, not this time

I will sit this one out’

Is that when we know

We are done

When our love

Of music is gone

We may like it enough

But no longer feel moved

To respond

To the call

Anxious we might fall

Afraid we might not
