How tragic we are
naturetimemortality
How tragic we are
Just a thin membrane
Keeping everything in place
Pressure constraints
Restrain us
Maintaining
Equilibrium
Holding our position
Balancing the scales
In our favour
Even as the weight
Of expectation
Demands so much more
Than we can give
It takes more than oxygen
To fuel the fire
It consumes with
Every breath
We are just a bag of bones
Rattling in the dark
Drying in the sun
Melting in the rain
Falling in a pool
Sinking in the dirt
Reflected in the moon
Without a shadow
When the dream fades
How tragic we are
