I am nothing
griefnaturepoliticstimelovesolitude
I am nothing
But a fool
How could I believe
We were invulnerable
Bulletproof
Nothing would break
Our spirit
A love forged
In adversity
Would conquer all
Together we traversed mountains
Journeyed to the stars
Followed their
Fall to earth
Kept the chill at bay
As a winter sun
Crawled slowly
Above the Carpatheans
Trawled the oceans
In search of a moon
That fell to earth
Growing old
Would be child's play
Compared to parenthood
A slow journey
Undertaken less in sorrow
Than in hope
Of peaceful restitution
A beginning of new wonder
Together in the eternal
Are you there now
As I am in solitude
Watching the world
Go by
Waiting for a star
To show me the way
Back to you
And the shelter
Of your warm breast
The only place
I know that I belong.
