I feel quite low today.

lossnaturetimemortality

I feel quite low today.

I flicking miss Kora.

My cover is worn

The colours faded

Over the years

It will not reveal

Too much

Other than

To have been mishandled

From time to time

The damage plain to see

Has not impacted

The flesh and bone

Of the story

Although some pages

Have ragged edges

Folded corners

Where the text

Has been studied

With the expectation

Re-reading would

Improve understanding

Underlining leaves

An indelible mark

Scoring through

Several layers

Accenting meaning

Drawing the eye

Away from deeper

Analysis

Of more complex

Interpretations

An easy flow

A lyrical phrase

Is as comely

As a fallow field

Overgrown

With wildflowers

It is tempting

To believe

The landscape

Is plain to see

But there is more to me

I am not a book

Neither open

Nor closed

And I have yet to be read

From cover to cover
