The world did end
naturememoryidentitymortality
The world did end
I was there
To see it happen
Looked it in the face
Saw the truth
Of my inconsequence
On the continuance
Of this place
Rotating even as I waited
For an understanding
Of its progression
Stumbled over words
With a small voice
Lacking cadence
Drifted in a slurry
Of yesterdays
Watched as everything
Moved further away
Until finally, it stopped
The lights blinked out
Even as the sun shone
There was darkness
In every colour
As every little thing bled
One into another
Even though I saw
The turning of the days
The passion
In other plays
There was no impact
On such alien surroundings
No decision
Asked or made
Nothing to change
The direction
Of travel
The world did end
Until
Slowly, it started up
Again
Without me.
