I looked directly into the stars,

naturecitypoliticstimemortality

I looked directly into the stars,

Deeply searching

But found no answers

Their counsel wisely kept.

They held all the cards

And kept them close,

Future-proofed.

I journeyed as far as the moon

Softly landing

Hoping to find water

It was a long way to go

When the shortage

Was much closer

But I needed the distraction.

Bubbles have burst

So many times

It is a wonder I keep blowing

But I do

For the unbridled joy in the faces

Of the children.

There is so much magic

In the lightness of air,

It is intoxicating.

The call of a night sky full of shadows

Waiting to surprise

Brimming with intention

To be more than ornamental.

A backdrop

To the unfolding of dreams.

As the human traffic streams

Its significance in waves

Of sub-light particles.

Accelerating by virtue

Of a freedom to proceed

Boldly

Into the vast void.

Beyond

The reach of faith and greed

Where everything exists

From the moment it does

Until science proves it

Otherwise.
