I miss her so much.

naturememorytimeloveidentitymortality

I miss her so much.

We have strayed, far

From the campfire

In search of each other

Escape consequence

Or find the peace

To contemplate the future

Hold on tight to the past

What is progress

When we pitch up

Beyond the farthest arrow

Circle the wagons

Tie up the horses

And build up our defences

How loud is the voice

Of discontent

That can be heard

Without believing it is an echo

Of temptation

The devil finds flaw

In minor details

Without interference

Perhaps a grand plan

Would emerge

To be signed off

By all and sundry

For too long

Our feet have been stuck

In the mud

Sinking beneath the weight

Of history

Holding on to the memory

Of betrayal

To escape the consequence

Of the flight

We carry the serpent

It lies hidden

In our baggage

Everywhere we go

Until we strip it all away

Tear down the walls

Flood the empty halls

With light

Build a different structure

For the soul

To meet our needs

Recognise our proximity

As lovers,

Friends and neighbours

Sheltered beneath

The same family tree

Alongside,

You and me.
