I miss you so much.

I miss you so much.

It is easier

To look at the stars

As a heavenly disguise

A mummer’s mask

A distraction

A merry twinkle

The magic of their appearance

The way they rotate

Around Polaris

Shimmer and blaze

In a fiery fall

With the tail of a comet.

It is better to wish upon

Than to concede

The enormity of their existence

The magnitude of the distance

Between us

Measured in light years

The meaning of space

The wobble of time,

How insignificant we are

How magnificent.

A known wonder of the universe

To add to all the others

We can see

From the open window

Of a nursery.

Holding a newborn

As an example

Of continuity

And the evolution

Of our relationship

To the celestial.
