Everything stops
musicpoliticsmemorytimelovemortality
Everything stops
With a hug
Except for the beating of hearts
Pounding in chest cavities
Finding a rhythm
The earliest music
No wonder the drummer
Is at the heart of things
War and bleeding
Dance and ceremony
Ancient communique
Primal understanding
I hold you up
You hold me
Is there an ending
Or is all completion?
Wither is the way
Of arms and legs combined
Nary is there any separation
For in lovers
It is all or nothing
Once, when we did kiss
All the world stood still
And momentarily
Even the generous spirit
Could believe
We alone were
At the centre of all things
