If I could

naturecitytime

If I could

I would roll in the grass

Slither along

Snakelike

Hang upside down

From the branch of a tree

Batlike

Play the fool

With a straw hat pulled down

Over my face

The top sprung

Clownlike

Get away with murder

Not literally, but

Childlike

Scratch my back

Up and down against a tree

Shake my body

Free of salty water

Doglike

In my mind

I am a butterfly

Flitting from

Place to place

Barely stopping

To admire the view

An Albatross

Birdlike

There is no sense to it

I am not a snake

Or a dog

Or even a goldfish

Pondlife

If I could get away with

What I did

When I was a child

A little tyke

I would

Be godlike.
