If I turn away
lossnaturememorytimeidentitymortality
If I turn away
Will the lights go down
The flowers die
The rivers dry
The sun turn cold
In a blood red sky
The shadows grow
As the children cry
Will the summer end
In a violent storm
The ocean fall
Then rise again
To flood the earth
In its urgency
To redeem itself
For its loss of grace
Will I see you
As light fades
When stars are gone
Every last one
Snuffed out
By a callous hand
Without a thought
For loss of hope
As darkness grows
And memory fades
Of the way you looked
When I turned away
Will you be there
If I turn again
Or is this a dream
Of another day
When there is no way
To know that truth
Is a price you pay
When there is no choice
But to find a door
To the home
Of re-dreaming
There will be no turning
No exception
Or exemption made
For redemption
And no returning me
