If there is chaos

naturecitymusictimeloveidentity

If there is chaos

On the inside

What hope is there out

In the open

Under the streetlights

Beneath the gaze

Of a full-fat moon

If I scream

Nothing really changes

People shout from windows

A car horn sounds

Forlorn

In the distance

Where do they go

When the music stops

Condensation clouds

My judgement

Of the truth of things

Especially

As the temperature falls

Barely clad

Thoughts

Are no match

For an autumnal night

Beneath the stars

However brightly they may shine

Climate change

Is not for the faint-hearted

Where was I

When the mayhem

Really started

Perhaps it was before

My time when

There was screaming

From the beginning

Something about

The world

Made no sense

Even then

Perhaps the chaos came

With the transition

From comparative

Safety

To the unpredictability

Of life on the outside

There is no guarantee

Of collective sanity

Take me back

There is a wildness

About human nature

It threatens to

Turn my heart

Into stone

Petrified

For all eternity
