In the moments
naturecitymusicpoliticsmemorytime
In the moments
When the sun shines
It might be a dream
But there is affirmation
In the warmth
The sweat on my brow
An honest response.
Freckles reign supreme
In those moments
Of remembrance
With the spice
Of romance
Tweaking the mood
Bringing a smile
To my face.
When the sun shines
We beam,
It is something
In the water
As mum used to say.
Those old-time
Phrases
Music hall days
When taking the waters
Made destinations
Of spa towns.
Whatever happened to Scarborough?
When it was set fair
To be a landmark
Destination
Never to return.
Do towns cease
To exist
Once we turn our backs?
All of this and more
Drifts by my window
With the pollen spores
Just a sneeze away
And a sky full
Of dandelion clocks
A regiment of parachutes
Tickling my throat,
A bridge too far
To be thankful.
