Is life a burden
Is life a burden
I am fit enough to carry
From whence does
This weight of expectation
Come
Where is the pressure
Directed
And by whom
There is no hiding place
No matter the disguise
Pasted smiles
Fool nobody
Not for too long
Never oneself
Perhaps only enough time
Is allocated
To hang the monkey
Before the truth
Of ones weakness
Is realised
What is strength
If not the capacity
To accept help
When it is offered
Why then do we
Continue
In the same way
With a presumption
That next time
We will derive
A different solution
There is no control
Without understanding
The random
Nature of existence
Is a purpose
In itself
And still we try
Until the last breath
Is that a release
A relinquishment
Of sorts
Are we so very different
When nobody knows
The conclusion
But we are programmed
To carry on
Regardless.
