Is there a last tear
identitymortality
Is there a last tear
Has it already been shed
In the overflow
From an endless supply
A bottomless pool
At the world’s end
Are you afraid
The next one might be the one
To break you
Send you tumbling
Over the edge
Into the darkness
Where the real fear lies
Lurking in the void
Waiting to consume
The contents
Of your soul
It is unlikely to be so
Literal
There is no logical
Explanation
For the belief
Even of a metaphor
When it makes
So little sense
But still you never know
With an emotional
Free flow
Creaking defences
Will be swamped
You will be swept up
In the undertow
One small tear
Might be all that it will take
To begin
So, let it go.
