Outside of the ordinary

Collaborative endeavour

To create a universal

Masquerade

But the complex structure

Of a snowflake

The perfection

Of its geometry

In so fleeting an existence

Could suggest

The influence of some

Kind of higher order

Perhaps we are unique

Even as the words we speak

Are as worn as cliches

Oft used as shorthand

To make a brief connection

Social interaction

As a distraction

There is so much more

We do not say

On the inside

Hidden away for fear

We will give ourselves away

An inner core exposed

Our secrets laid bare

Out there

Naked in daylight

Proof of difference

As fragile

As a snowflake

Perfect as a buttercup

Different, as a reflection

Of perception

Turns us, a leftside out

A rightside in

Until we stop seeing

What we might be,

Beyond

The image we present

And realise

Between the lines

Where we are

All so much alike

We are so wonderfully

Different.
