It all goes on

lossgriefmusicpoliticsmemorytime

It all goes on

Children sing

The same songs

The elf sits on the shelf

And children believe

In magic

Even as the last present bought

Has a price tag still attached

The eyes tell a story

Of bygone days

When a cardboard box

Was a pirate ship

And a stocking was hung

At the end of a bed

Please please

Can I have a pillow case instead

Lay down your head

To sleep

Not one sound or little peep

Remember your role

Is only titular

It is a young world

And you are so much older

Now than then

Resting is not easy

When you believe

Your race is not yet run

Find your dancing feet

Cook the turkey

It is an essential

In a house full of carnivores

Drink a dram or two

Kick back and enjoy

The freedom

You are an additional

Presence

Nothing will fail

Should you fall

Help is waiting in the wings

Take it

We are all angels here

With nothing to prove

But the cake mix

Eat drink

Take heed of

Your limits

Remember the true nature

Of your ghosts

Raise them up

They will support you

In darkness

Santa Claus is coming

And we are having

A party.
