It is an easy decision

naturecitypoliticstimeidentitymortality

It is an easy decision

On a full stomach

When the stars are aligned

Through a triple glazed window

A blood moon

Tumbles over the rooftops

As flying foxes

Follow an erratic flight path

Across the bay

Clattering trams

Judder through the night

And the air

Is recirculated

For a better sleep

Another drink

To lubricate the soul

Indulge in a detox

A self-satisfied diet

A New Year resolution

To improve the constitution

Lose a pound or two

What about you

Redefining yourself

In the moment

First world problems

When mindfulness

Is a lifestyle choice

And privilege

Trips off the tongue

As an excuse for hedonism

Shoot me down

With a self-held photo

Opportunity

I am as aware

As the next person

Look at the scenery

Over my shoulder

Every time I see you cry

I buy a big issue

And wish the street vendor

A good day

It is the modern way

Consumption

Makes the world go round

It used to kill people

Before they got old

So I am told

But that was before I was born

Should I go for a walk

Or mow the lawn

It is an easy decision

To make

On a full stomach.
