Lay me down
lossgriefnaturemusicpoliticsmortality
Lay me down
In this soft bed
Weary are the bones that carry me
I need to rest a sunblessed head
Tired is what I’m feeling
From the pain of long lost days
Let me sleep till morning
It is a price my body pays
Come to me
Knead this wretched ache
Comfort me in slumber
Until the moment I awake
Sing to me
Of glory and of freedom
The rising of the helpless
Of victories yet to come
Loose the chains
That flay the skin, break the bone
Set this weary body down
Until its pain is done.
