Long goes the night

lossnaturemusicmemorytimeidentity

Long goes the night

The only man alive

Looking for roses

Before they bleed

Trying to forget the way

Until I remember

It never led anywhere.

Contemplating the sky

Wondering whether

It is really there

Or how high it is

Do clouds whisper

Secrets

In passing,

One to another.

How many times will the moon

Revolve

In synchrony

When will it fall

Below the sea

Dipping in and out

Of the Hessian

A blood-filled sack

Draped in the blue

Of midnight

Hallowed in darkness

The guts of it

Rarely exposed enough

To catch the wind

Every story, blown away

In a confusion of words

The stems of roses,

Sharply thorned

Battle-torn.

Pallid bodies

Broken on stag horns.

My way home

Lost in the meander

Of old souls

Swimming in shadow

Leading me on to

Somewhere and nowhere.
