Looking into the flame

lossmusicmemorytimeloveidentity

Looking into the flame

Lost in a haze

A self-induced hypnotic

Time slips by

As the past is burned

In memory

Tears will never replace truth

It is hidden among the dust

Of illusion

Sift through its rags

Once more

Perhaps something new will lie

Among the scraps

Even though

What was missed

Rarely comes to light

Until it falls into the fire

A brief flicker

Of recognition

Too late to rescue

There is no point

Burning your fingers

Reaching for it

When you have tried

So many times.

Regret is toxic

Life is a little short

Of random

If you cry

For the delusion

Of dominion

It will only result

In helplessness

There is no future in it

Embrace the space

You stand in

It is yours

For as long as you need it

There is a change in the air

Even as the fire rages

It is a recipe

For purging

Feel the cleansing

Feed the soul.
