Moment by moment

Moment by moment

If there was just one moment

The trigger pulled

The bomb exploding

The world ending

The eagle diving down

Toward its prey

With nary a thought for anything else

The rabbit caught in headlights

How beautiful the moon

When eyes sparkle in recognition

Something passes between two people

As their hearts beat on,

Differently

A kiss, it just takes one to know

In the moment

Nothing changes

Everything is changed

A button pressed

A single word

The last breath before the end

A smile

A release of pressure

As sleep comes

What a difference a day makes

Friendships grow in deserts

There is no future

Just a past

Everything exists

And is destroyed

Heaven is hell

Hell is heaven

In the passage of a moment

All

Is nothing at all

Dead bodies lie still until they are moved

There is no acting

In the end, there are no awards for the fallen

Artistic merit is reserved for the excusers

Withhold your judgement

Of the facts

Until you recognise the pain

Of loss as it exists

In the moment

Of its delivery

Then you will know how it feels

To lose everything

When even meaning ceases

To be fully comprehensible

Stay with it, it is really all we have

One moment

One thought

Gone.
