Neither use nor ornament
Neither use nor ornament
Is what my mother would say
Teenage lethargy
When the brain moves quicker
Than the eye can see
As the body remains
Unmoved
Juvenile angst
Provoking a response
To every sleight
No matter how insignificant
Raw edges
Torn open at every touch
Perfectly formed replies
Lost in translation
Nobody knows
What a poor boy feels
When he is misunderstood
Is a lame excuse
So often used
To little effect
When the truth is
Plain for anyone to see
Whatever the reason
No matter the cause
It is far too readily
Not all about Eve
But all about me
The world revolves
On its own axis
Not mine
But the senses dictate
We are all at the centre
Of our own universe
It takes time
And good judgement
To self-manage
The path of an orbit
To ensure
We maintain balance
Gravitational integrity
Self-avoiding
Another big bang
Whilst remaining
In close proximity
To other celestial beings
We are connected
Not bound
With chain or rope
But as individuals
Embedded
Within a dynamic
Multiverse
Of mutually dependent
Relationships
Interconnected
Solitary systems
Quantum physics
At a molecular level
God’s particle
For want of a word
Hit the accelerator
It should not take
A lifetime
To realise the perfection
At the heart
Of such a wondrous
Collision
Closed systems no more
When we open
To the possibility
Of engagement
One with another
Two together
Three… a trinity
